Privacy policy

This policy is a draft prepared for counsel review. It describes how the DocuScene interest list actually works today, but it has not yet been finalized. Prepared 2026-08-16.

What we collect

The interest form collects your email address, your selected role or intent, and — if you choose to provide them — your name, your organization, and a short description of the footage you are looking for. With each submission we record a consent entry: the exact consent statement you agreed to, its policy version, and a UTC timestamp.

For abuse prevention we also record a salted hash of your IP address and a truncated browser user-agent string. The IP address itself is not stored, and the hash cannot be reversed into an address.

Why we collect it

To send you launch access and occasional archive updates you asked for, to understand which kinds of producers and institutions are interested, and to keep automated abuse off the form. We do not sell or share this information.

Double opt-in

Submitting the form does not subscribe you. We send one confirmation email; only an address whose owner clicks the confirmation button is marked confirmed, and marketing email goes only to confirmed addresses. Unconfirmed submissions receive nothing further.

No tracking

This site sets no cookies, loads no third-party analytics, and embeds no trackers. We count a small set of anonymous product events (form viewed, started, submitted, email confirmed, and the selected intent). Email addresses and free-text answers are never part of those events.

Retention and deletion

Submissions that are never confirmed are anonymized after 30 days. When you unsubscribe, your record is anonymized after a short administrative window. Anonymization removes the email address and any optional details; only the dated consent history remains, with no way to connect it to you.

Unsubscribing

Every marketing email we send contains an unsubscribe link that works without signing in. Unsubscribing stops all marketing email immediately.
